L’sîtkuk River Walk 2015

Celebrating National Aboriginal Day and the arrival of Summer in Bear River

Sunday, June 21st    2:30pm

2:30 pm:  Meet at the Waterfront Park downtown Bear River

Everyone welcome!  Bring your drums, rattles, and dancing feet!

We will gather and begin with a ceremony. Together we will walk in a loop around the river area, drumming, with Nipk (Summer) giant puppet to accompany us. We will return to the Park area and end with a Round Dance.

Let’s continue to celebrate the arrival of summer, our Mi’kmaw history along these rivers, and honour the water.

L’sîtkuk is the traditional Mi’kmaw name for the Bear River, meaning “cutting through” (referring to the landscape)
