5th ANNUAL BEAR RIVER WINTER CARNIVAL – 2012

Bear River Winter Carnival meeting this Fri. Jan. 27th at Oakdene Centre at 6 pm. All are welcome.  Lots of volunteers are needed for the many events.

Pick up your snow/ice creations entry forms and register for events at Cherry Brook Grocery in downtown Bear River.  Check out the map on the wall showing all the locations for snow-ice creations.

Contests for best winter dishes, ice sculptures, ice candles, and snowmen!
Prizes awarded!

Build a snowman or snow sculpture in your yard or behind the Bear River Legion and win great prizes. Call All-Ways Gardening, Sue Comeau @ 467-3258 or allwaysgardening@ns.sympatico.ca to enter. A photographer will come and take a picture right away. With your permission, you will be put on our snow sculpture map so the public can come and take a look. (location not designated yet)

12pm & 7:30pm SNOW & ICE SCULPTING WORKSHOPS Free, behind the Bear River Royal Canadian Legion, come learn a few techniques on how to and how not to build!! Enter your creation in the contests!! 12pm – 4pm. CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRIP For Beginner skiers. Ski from Victory to Bear River. Meet at Bear River Fire hall 12pm. Trip 5.3 miles or 8.53 kilometres. 8am – 4pm CROSS COUNTRY SKI OVER 7 LAKES (weather and ice conditions permitting) Trip is 10.75 miles or 17.3 kilometres Bring your own lunch, snacks & don’t forget your water! Campfire with hot coffee, tea, & hot dogs, provided at lunch time. Meet at the Bear River Fire hall @8am.
