Bear River Winter Carnival meeting this Fri. Jan. 27th at Oakdene Centre at 6 pm. All are welcome.  Lots of volunteers are needed for the many events.

Pick up your snow/ice creations entry forms and register for events at Cherry Brook Grocery in downtown Bear River.  Check out the map on the wall showing all the locations for snow-ice creations.

Contests for best winter dishes, ice sculptures, ice candles, and snowmen!
Prizes awarded!

Build a snowman or snow sculpture in your yard or behind the Bear River Legion and win great prizes. Call All-Ways Gardening, Sue Comeau @ 467-3258 or to enter. A photographer will come and take a picture right away. With your permission, you will be put on our snow sculpture map so the public can come and take a look. (location not designated yet)

Tuesday Feb 7th:

12pm & 7:30pm SNOW & ICE SCULPTING WORKSHOPS Free, behind the Bear River Royal Canadian Legion, come learn a few techniques on how to and how not to build!! Enter your creation in the contests!! Dress warm & bring winter gloves & rubber gloves if you have them. Contact: Sue Comeau 467-3258

6pm THE LIGHTING OF THE ICE CANDLES Starts behind the Bear River Legion. Ends behind the Bear River Legion with a candlelight skate. Drop off your ice candles behind the Legion. Help light them about town. Contact: Duffer Wilson 467-0233

10am to 11pm Free CROSS COUNTRY SKI CLINIC Behind the Bear River Legion, just past the rink. Ski’s, poles, and Boots provided. Come try it out. Just show up or contact Sue Comeau 467-3258

10:30-11:30YOGA DANCE FITNESS  Free. A one hour guided movement experience. It combines yoga, dance, & aerobics. Wear loose clothing, bring your own water & mat. Held at Oakdene Center in gym upstairs. Contact: Julie Palmer, 467-3151

12pm – 4pm. CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRIP For Beginner skiers. Ski from Victory to Bear River. Meet at Bear River Fire hall 12pm. Trip 5.3 miles or 8.53 kilometres. A truck waits at halfway point for tired skiers. A ski for advanced skiers on Sunday. Contact Sue Comeau 467-3258

8am – 4pm CROSS COUNTRY SKI OVER 7 LAKES (weather and ice conditions permitting) Trip is 10.75 miles or 17.3 kilometres Bring your own lunch, snacks & don’t forget your water! 10am 5 KM WALK OR RUN Cost $5.00 Start from Oakdene. Different age categories: Junior = 12 years & under, Masters =13-39, Senior Masters = 40-59 years, Golden Master 60 years and up. Prizes awarded. Bring your own water.
