The fifth annual Bear River striped bass tournament will be held Sept. 17.
Registration is by 9 a.m. at the Branch 22 Royal Canadian Legion. A fishing licence is not required, and each participant will be allowed to keep one fish per day.
1st prize $600
2nd prize $200
3rd prize $100

Participants can try their luck along the river from the Bear River Bridge on Highway 101 to head of the tide in Bear River.
All entrants must have their own fishing gear and bait — mackerel, herring, plugs, sandworms, whatever is working on that particular day.
Registration is $25 per person. Children 12 and under can fish for free but have to be registered to qualify for prizes. Prizes include $600 for the top fish, $200 for second and $100 for third.
