“Regardless of the medium, I am most interested in making the invisible visible through my art and honouring the stories that would otherwise be lost and forgotten. I have begun to explore the art form of puppetry, where I bring together all aspects of my creative practice to consider storytelling through this complex medium. I’m also writing a small puppet play to perform as part of my residency.”

Three visual artists with a passion for collaboration are getting ready to create a site-specific work at the ARTSPLACE Gallery in Annapolis Royal. Z’otz* Collective was formed in 2004 by Nahúm Flores (Honduras), Erik Jerezano (Mexico), and Ilyana Martínez (Mexico/Canada) who share Latin American roots and a Toronto studio where they’ve joined forces to create drawings, paintings, collages, sculptures, and site-specific installations.
