Along with many others, musicians here in Southwest Nova Scotia were shocked and saddened by the death of Duncan Draper. We knew him not only as an exceptional musical talent, but also a warm and remarkably generous person.
Tall Sips On Stilts in Bear River, wishes to give the area’s musical community and opportunity to gather together and celebrate Duncan’s contributions to our community, share personal stories about how he influenced our music and our lives, and why knowing and collaborating with him has left an indelible impression on each of us.
On Saturday, January 12th, Tall Sips On Stilts Tavern will be hosting an open house in Bear River, and we are inviting any musicians and friends of Duncan who wish to attend.
We will open at 2:00 pm and stay open until 10:00 pm, to accommodate people who have to travel some distance.
We will also be having a pot-luck dinner for folks who want to stay into the evening, or just ‘top up’ before heading home, and encourage you to bring a favorite meal, desert, or snack.
In addition to the stories and remembrances, we hope that many of the musicians who come will also share some of their music. [We will have a P.A. and mics set up and a couple of guitars hanging around, so you don’t to need bring a lot of equipment.] We want this to be an up-beat event, which we are certain is what Duncan would have wished.
