Mi’kmaq Storyteller: Shalan Joudry

Outside the Red Bookmobile bus, located in the side parking lot of the Bear River Grocery Store, 1852 Main Street, Bear River, NS.

Shalan Joudry is a Storyteller, hand-drum singer and poet from the traditional district of Kespukwitk (southwest Nova Scotia). She uses her theatrical background to bring Mi’kmaw teachings to a new generation of listeners, as well as recounting personally crafted stories that follow Mi’kmaw story weaving custom. Shalan lives and works in her community of Bear River First Nation. This live performance will take place at the regular Bookmobile stop, located in the side parking lot of the Bear River Grocery Store, 1852 Main Street, Bear River, NS. In the case of inclement weather, this event will move indoors at Sissiboo Coffee, 1890 Clementsvale Road, Bear River, NS. We suggest attendees bring blankets or chairs for seating.
