Slavery in Annapolis and Digby Counties: The Untold Story – June 8, 2017

Slavery existed and thrived in Annapolis and Digby Counties in the 18th and early 19th centuries. However, most popular histories of these communities do not discuss slavery in the area.

The research presented intends to add to the familiar local history and to serve as a rudimentary foundation for the history of slavery in Digby and Annapolis Counties. Much of the history on this topic has been lost forever because it has not been preserved.

This research is an attempt to publicize and preserve the surviving evidence and to inspire future research to uncover new information.
