Collaborative textile show by Diane Clapp and Penny Berens. Hanging from Nov 15– Dec 31
With contributions by Lucky Rabbit: ceramic tiles of NS species at risk will be for sale; as well, a large plate with picture of a Blanding’s turtle will be on silent auction for the duration of the show, starting bid $100.

Artist bios:

Diane Clapp:
Diane started in the world of fibre as a weaver but turned to the traditional Nova Scotian craft of rug hooking when living on her sailboat. She now explores the world of natural dying and hand-stitching. Long advocates for the natural world, Diane and her daughter designed a series of rugs and cards for the Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute to bring attention to the endangered and at-risk species of NS. All proceeds of rugs and cards will go to MTRI. Read about Diane’s discovery of rare Blanding’s Turtles.

Penny Berens:
Penny began embroidering at the age of 8. She has shown her work across Canada and internationally, and has been awarded numerous accolades in various publications. Over the years her work has evolved from complex pictorial work to simpler abstract designs, stitching daily observances by hand on fabric she has dyed herself using local flora.

Lucky Rabbit is the pottery artistry of Deb Kuzyk and Ray Mackie.
