‘Far Out’ Book launch and Video Tour- the 60’s Migration in Nova Scotia – Wed. Nov 6, 2024 (corrected date)

“If you don’t know what to do with your life, you can’t go wrong with buying your own little piece of land, building your own little house, and no one can kick you off. So that became my plan, that was 1973, and here I am nearly 50 years later.”
Bob Snider – singer songwriter, Bear River NS

They were hippies and homesteaders, draft doggers and spiritual seekers and like generations of immigrants before them, they were fleeing war, materialism and exploitation, trying to make a new life. And even with few plans, little experience and not much money, they made radical changes in environmentalism or organic farming, alternative energy, and much more changes in more ways than you might think. This is their story.

Join author Chris Murphy in conversation with former CBC host Costas Halavrezos, readings from the book Far Out!, a video by Peter Murphy and an audience Q&A to follow.
