Hello sweet friends, and happy new year!
I am thrilled to be starting an “Open Stage” afternoon in Bear River, Nova Scotia at the lovely The Village Cauldron Cafe and Market starting on Sunday, January 14th from 2–4pm!
It’s like an open mic but anything goes – bring a poem, a song, a dance, heck, bring a lasagne and talk about it. Everything is art!
My most formative music experiences happened at open mics and coffeehouses, and I wouldn’t be a folk musician if it weren’t for those magical experiences. Performing in a room with humans is invaluable, and I’m so excited to facilitate this over the coming year.
Here are the details:
WHAT: Bear River Open Stage
WHEN: Starting Sunday, January 14, 2–4pm, and continuing every other Sunday
WHERE: The Village Cauldron Cafe and Market, Bear River

The Bear River Open Stage works just like an open mic, but includes artists across all disciplines. If you’re a musician, play us a song; if you’re a poet, read us a poem; if you’re a weaver, show and tell about your textile, fresh from the loom! All artistic forms of expression are encouraged. This is a welcoming and supportive space for artists of all levels and ages.
You can sign up for your 5 minute slot to share your work as you arrive at The Cauldron Market & Cafe (Bear River), or simply join the audience for a lovely afternoon of art. There is no fee to attend, but you’re welcome to buy a drink or snack as you relax and enjoy.
